CMS Men's Swimming and Diving Rolls Past Redlands for Senior Day Win
CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team took first place in every event as it celebrated Senior Day with a dominant 151-24 win over Redlands on Saturday afternoon at Axelrood Pool.
The senior class of Marco Conati, Daniel Hayon, Abai Houser, Luke Lenhart, Walter Limm, Joaquin Riojas, and Nick Tan was honored prior to meet for the 10th-ranked Stags, who improved to 5-2 on the season and 5-0 in the SCIAC, with both losses coming to Division I programs (UC San Diego, California Baptist).
Grant Stucky and Eric Workman each won two races for the Stags on the day, with Stucky earning first place in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard IM, and Workman winning the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events. Cyrus Gaylord also took both diving events for the Stags, with Jack Griffith coming in second in both.
Lucas Lang (500 free), Dylan Krueger (50 free), Frank Applebaum (200 fly) and Anderson Breazeale (200 back) each took individual wins for CMS as well. Ben Smith added two second-place finishes for the Stags, while Conati (usually a sprinter and a butterfly swimmer) had a solid second-place effort in the 500 free as he tried his hand in a distance event.
CMS will be back in action on Jan. 29 when it takes on La Verne and Cal Lutheran in a SCIAC tri-meet, which will be held at La Verne.
