Anderson Breazeale Named SCIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Anderson Breazeale captured the SCIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week award for events through Sunday, Dec. 5, the league office announced this afternoon.

Breazeale earned the honor after helping the Stags to a dominant 82-point win over ninth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer. He won five total events on the weekend, all three individual ones he enters as well as two relays, while setting Axelrood Pool records in all five of them.

His individual wins came in the 200 free, the 500 free and the 200 back. His two freestyle wins came by razor-thin margins against his own teammates, edging Eric Workman by .02 in the 200 free, and barely defeating Lucas Lang by just over a half-second in the 500 free. His 500 free time (4:31.10) now ranks third in CMS history.

Breazeale also swam the first leg of the 200 medley relay and the third leg of the 400 freestyle relay, which both earned first-place finishes in Axelrood Pool record times. Both relays also now rank No. 3 in CMS history.

The Stags have now won the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week honor the last three weeks they have competed, after Marco Conati won after each of the last two competitions. Jack Griffiths also won the SCIAC Diver of the Week after a season-opening meet at UC San Diego.

CMS will have a month off for exams and the holiday break, before resuming action on Jan. 7 at the California Baptist Distance Meet.
