
Marco Conati Repeats as SCIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week
CLAREMONT, Calif. - For the second straight week, Marco Conati of the CMS men's swimming and diving team earned the SCIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week award, the league office announced today.
Conati earned the honor after winning all four events he entered (two individual, two relay) as the Stags swept No. 21 Caltech and Chapman in a tri-meet on Saturday. He won the 50 free in 20.76, not far off his personal best of 20.53 set in 2019. and earned the win in the 100 fly in 50.77.
Conati was also was a part of two relays (200 medley, 200 free) that moved into the top in CMS history with times of 1:23.40 and 1:31.05, respectively. The medley relay, with Nick Tekieli, Walter Limm, and Dylan Krueger moved into sixth in CMS history, while the 200 free relay team with Krueger, Jeremy Kim and Tekieli moved into ninth in CMS annals.
In his career, Conati has now won the swimmer of the week honor from the SCIAC three times, including once as a junior when he won six events in a dual with Pomona-Pitzer. He has also earned All-America honors in the 100 fly (fourth) and been a SCIAC Champion four times (twice in the 100 fly, once in the 50 free and once with the 200 medley relay team).
Conati and the Stags will next be in action when they host the Sagehens on Dec. 3-4 at Axelrood Pool.
