Marco Conati Wins SCIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Marco Conati was named the SCIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for events through Saturday, Nov. 6, the league office announced today.

Conati won all four of the events he competed in as CMS opened SCIAC competition with a dominant win over Occidental. He won two individual events in the 50 free and the 100 free, and then contributed to two relay wins, swimming the butterfly leg of the 200 medley relay and the second leg of the 400 free relay to close out the meet. 

In the final event of the first session, Conati won the 50 free in 21.33 seconds, winning by .44 over teammate Theo Johnson. After an intermission for diving competition, Conati won again, taking the 100 in 46.38, with Johnson again in second place in 47.98.

Conati is a former All-American in the 100 fly, finishing fourth at the 2019 championships, and has won SCIAC titles in both the 100 fly and the 50 free in his career. he ranks second in CMS history in the 100 fly, third in the 100 free and fourth in the 50 free.  

CMS will be back in action on Saturday for a SCIAC tri-meet at Chapman, with Caltech also competing.
