CMS Men's Swimming and Diving Sends Seven Representatives to NCAA Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team, which captured the SCIAC Championship last weekend, will have seven representatives heading to the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, N.C. on March 18-21.

Senior diver Kendall Hollimon became the seventh Stag to earn his way to the NCAA Championships when he finished second on both boards at the NCAA Regional Qualifier hosted by Trinity (Texas) this weekend. Hollimon will be making his fourth NCAA Division III Championship appearance, after earning All-America honors four times in his first three years (three times on the three-meter, one time on the one-meter).

Also returning to nationals is junior Marco Conati, who earned a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly a year ago to earn All-America honors. Conati heads to Greensboro this year tied for the ninth-fastest time in Division III this season, which puts him right on the line to qualify for finals and earn All-America honors again if everyone matched their seed time.

Earning his way in an individual event is first-year Anderson Breazeale, who places No. 13 in the nation in the 200 back with a time of 1:47.51.  Breazeale will also be a part of three qualifying relay teams for the Stags, competing in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard medley relay in the backstroke, as well as in the 400-yard freestyle relay, while Conati will be in all three relays as well, swimming the butterfly in the two medley relays.

Junior Andreas Roeseler will be part of all three relay teams for the Stags as the anchor swimmer in the freestyle, swimming 100-yard freestyle legs in the 400 medley and the 400 free, and a 50-yard leg in the 200 medley. The breaststroke legs of the medley relays will be handled by senior Sam Willett in the 200 medley and sophomore Walter Limm in the 400 medley, while first-year Nathan Luis will also be part of the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The invited swimmers also will have the opportunity to swim in additional individual events if the schedule permits. Conati, for example, swam the 50 free and the 100 free at the NCAA Championships a year ago, but this year with the added duty of three relays, he may restrict his workload depending on how the championship schedule shapes up.

The NCAA Division III Championships will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. NCAA.com will video stream all sessions Wednesday through Saturday of the championships.
