Kendall Hollimon Takes Fourth SCIAC Diver of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Junior Kendall Hollimon was named the SCIAC Diver of the Week for the second week in a row and the fourth time this season for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving team, the league office announced today.

Hollimon swept both of the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational this weekend, in the final tune-up before the SCIAC Championships get underway next weekend. He scored a 575.65 in the three-meter to win the event by just over 66 points, and then scored a 479.35 in the one-meter to take first place by just over 40 points.

Hollimon has won the SCIAC Diver of the Week Award four out of six weeks since returning from studying abroad in the fall and re-joining the Stags on Jan. 4. He still has not been defeated by a Division III diver, as his only losses since coming back were against Division I Cal Baptist on Jan. 6.

Senior Jacque Desmond has also been named the SCIAC Women's Diver of the Week four times, giving the CMS divers eight awards combined this season. The entire CMS swimming and diving program has been honored 14 times this year, with a high of three last week, when swimmer Nick Tan joined Desmond and Hollimon after a tri-meet sweep of Cal Lutheran and La Verne.

The SCIAC Diving Championships will be this Saturday and Sunday at Pomona-Pitzer, while the swimming portion of the SCIAC Championships will be held in Commerce, California from Feb. 21-24.
