CMS Men's Swimming and Diving Ranked No. 12 in Preseason CSCAA Poll

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team earned the No. 12 spot nationally in the NCAA Division III preseason coaches poll, it was announced today by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America.

The Stags are coming off a season which saw them finish No. 25 at the NCAA Division III Championships in 2017-18. Junior Kendall Hollimon earned All-America honors in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events, finishing fourth in the three-meter and seventh in the one-meter. 

Juniors Henry Limm and Sam Willett both qualified for the nationals in individual events as well a year ago. Limm competed at the NCAA Championships in the 400 IM and the 200 fly, while Willett raced in the 100 breast, the 200 back and the 200 IM. 

Senior Aaron Lutzker also returns for the Stags after finishing second in the SCIAC Championships last year in the 200 breast and third in the 400 IM. Sophomore Daniel Hayon picked up a third-place finish last year at SCIACs in the 50 free, while senior John Everett was third in the 200 fly. 

Denison was the preseason favorite to repeat as national championships with 250 points in the poll. They were followed closely by Kenyon and Emory in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, followed by Johns Hopkins and MIT in a tie for fourth. 

CMS opens its 2018-19 schedule in less than two weeks when it travels to compete in a dual meet with UC San Diego on Saturday, Oct. 27.
