Pair of Stags swim their way to CollegeSwimming.com Athlete of the Week honors
SOMERS, Wisc. – CollegeSwimming.com announced its TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming.com Division III National Swimmers-of-the-Week for performances Feb. 1-7 and for the second-straight week, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming team is represented. A week after being selected by CollegeSwimming.com as the SCIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, senior swimmer Alex Poltash (CMC) has been chosen as the NCAA Division III National Men's Swimmer of the Week. Relay teammate, junior Matthew Williams (CMC), is the SCIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.
In a 174-124 victory over Pomona-Pitzer on Feb. 6, Poltash and Williams were on CMS' 200-yard medley relay team (Williams, senior Zach Alleva (CMC), Poltash and sophomore Noah Deer (CMC)) that placed in second at the meet, but came away with the fifth fastest time in Stags' history at 1:32.98. Poltash also swam on the winning 400 free relay team.
Ahead for the Stags is the SCIAC Championships, Feb. 18-21 at La Mirada Splash.
