Two All-American relays move Stags up to seventh after day two of NCAA Championships

INDIANOPOLIS, Ind. - The Stag 200 free and 400 medley relay teams both finished in the top eight and earned All-American honors and big team points on the second day of the NCAA Championships.  CMS is seventh with 91 points after day two.  The 400 medley relay team of Matthew Williams, Joseph Alleva, Patrick Shultz and Alex Poltash finished sixth in 3:18.06 and the 200 free relay team of Poltash, Williams, Shultz and Joey Hinton finished eighth in 1:21.78.  Both relays set CMS records in the prelims.  The 200 FR set both the CMS and SCIAC record with a time of 1:21.23 while the 400 MR team set the CMS record with a time of 3:17.79.

Conrad Shabb finished 13th in the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:58.68 to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors.

In preliminary action on Thursday, the Stags had four individuals compete in addition to Shabb.  In the 100 butterfly Shultz finished 29th in 49.88, Marc Blumberg finished 35th in 50.20 and Poltash finished 40th in 50.44.  Cameron Whiting finished 24th in the 200 freestyle in 1:40.36.

Friday's events include the 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 800 freestyle relay and 1 meter diving.  CMS has competitors in each event and Williams is the top seed in the 100 back.
