Joshua Kwon Cards Two Eagles in Final-Round 68 as CMS Men's Golf Finishes 13th at NCAAs

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Joshua Kwon shot a four-under 68 in his final round, including eagles on his fourth and seventh holes (No. 13 and No. 16) as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team moved up two spots to finish in 13th place at the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

CMS had its best round as a team in the final round of four played this week, finishing with a one-under 287. The Stags opened with a 292 on Tuesday and Boulder Creek and then shot 290 yesterday, while adding a 296 at The Legacy Golf Course on Wednesday, finishing at +13 for the championship. 

Kwon was -5 at the turn on Friday and peaked at -7 on his back nine before finishing with a 68, matching the best round for a Stag this week (along with Adrian Chiu yesterday). 

Methodist edged Carnegie Mellon by one stroke (-21 to -20) for the team title, before a huge dropoff to Emory and Oglethorpe, which tied for third at -3. Redlands was one shot behind them in fifth at -2. 

Jamison Tan also shot in the red for CMS on Friday, finishing at -1 after carding five birdies in a span of 11 holes. Yuefeng (Michael) Ma shot a 73 (+1) for his final round, while Chiu also scored at +3. 

Tan ended as the highest Stag on the individual leaderboard in a tie for 30th at +1, while Kwon was one shot behind in a tie for 37th with a +2. Michael O'Sullivan of Oglethorpe captured the individual title at -12, winning by one shot over Cooper Hrabak of Methodist.
