CMS Men's Golf Stands in Third After First Round of Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team is in third place out of 30 teams after the first round of the Jekyll Island Invitational on Friday.

CMS shot a 291 (+3) on the day, tying with Guilford for third behind only Emory (-5) and Carnegie Mellon (-2), with two more rounds still to go. 

Kevin Jiang led the way for CMS by shooting a -3. He started the day on the No. 10 hole, and shot nine pars on the back nine, and then was -3 with six pars on the front nine, ending his bogey-free round with a birdie on No. 9, pulling him into a tie for second, just two shots off the lead held by Alex Price of Christopher Newport. 

Vikram Chatterjee, who was just named the SwingU GCAA National Player of the Month for February, kept things going in March with a -1. He had five birdies on the day, getting as low as -2 before settling for a -1 round. 

Yuefeng (Michael) Ma was at +3 and Will Parker was +4 as the four scorers for the Stags. 

CMS will have an afternoon tee time tomorrow, beginning at 1:31 p.m. (EDT).
