Chatterjee Earns First-Ever SwingU Division III Player of the Month Honor from GCAA
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Vikram Chatterjee of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team became the first-ever winner of the inaugural SwingU Division III National Player of the Month Honor from the Golf Coaches Association of America, the organization announced today.
Chatterjee earned the award for the month of February after picking up SCIAC Athlete of the Week distinction following both events that CMS participated in. He was the individual medalist at SCIAC No. 1, the league's first regular season tournament, when he shot a -4 (68-72) to finish as the only player in the red and lead the Stags to a team win by 18 strokes.
He followed that up with a solid performance at the Las Vegas Shootout, when he shot all three rounds in the red (70-71-70, -5) to finish tied for sixth out of a field of almost 100 golfers. His efforts helped CMS move into the top 10 (ninth) in the latest national poll from the GCAA, released on Friday.
CMS will be back in action from March 16-18 at the Jekyll Island Invitational in Georgia, before hosting SCIAC No. 2 at Mountain Meadows on April 1-2. The Stags will then try to defend their league title at the SCIAC Championships on April 23-25.
