Mason Chiu Shoots Second Straight 70 for CMS Men's Golf at Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - Mason Chiu shot his second straight 70 (-2) on Saturday to move up five spots into a tie for eighth place at -4, as the CMS men's golf team stands in 11th place out of 30 teams after two rounds of the Jekyll Island Invitational.

Chiu began his second round on the 10th hole, and after making the turn at +1, he had birdies on holes No. 2, No. 6 and No. 7 to take momentum into tomorrow's final round. He now has six birdies in two rounds, after shooting a bogey-free opening round on Friday with two birdies and 16 pars and is in eighth place out of a large field of 150 competitors. 

Yuefeng (Michael) Ma is the second Stag on the individual leaderboard at -2, shooting 71 for the second consecutive day to remain in the red in a tie for 23rd place. Ma is up to a team-high eight birdies in the first two rounds, with four on each of the first two days. 

Alex Price and Brendan Frain are tied for the individual lead at -8, with Zack Russell of Sewanee one shot back. Emory has a one shot lead over Sewanee (-14 to -13) on the team leaderboard, with Carnegie Mellon in third at 10. CMS is at +1 through the first two rounds after shooting -1 on Friday and +2 on Saturday (287-290-577).

The third and final round of the Jekyll Island Invitational gets underway tomorrow morning, as CMS will try to move up from its current spot in 11th place and challenge for a top-five finish.
