Five Stags win All-SCIAC honors; Jollymour is Coach of the Year

PASADENA, Calif. – Five of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team earned honors on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams while Bim Jollymour was named as Coach of the Year. Freshman Alex Wrenn (CMC) was named the Ken Sherman Newcomer of the Year and joined by senior Kethan Reddy (CMC) and sophomore Jonathan Shaw (CMC) on the First Team. Sophomores Matt Shuman (CMC) and Jackson Zepf (CMC) round out the Stags' representatives with Second Team honors.

In his 15th year at the helm of the program, Jollymour led the Stags to the program's 11th SCIAC title and second during his tenure. He is assisted by John Hill in his sixth year working with the men's golf program.

Wrenn ended the conference season with the lowest average score in the whole conference at 72.80. His highest finish was a tie of third place in the SCIAC championships after a 70 on the final round. At the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational in March, Wrenn had the highest finish for the Stags as he tied for third place (212) at 4-under par. The Stags finished in fourth place, recording its best showing ever at the tournament.

Shaw earns his second all-conference award after being named to the First Team in 2015. He won SCIAC #1 in February posting a 148 over both rounds (76, 72) to finish 4-over. He was six strokes above the second place finished. Shaw also had the low round for the Stags as the Collegiate Invitational with a 68 on the first round of the tournament.

Reddy caps off his collegiate career with his fourth All-SCIAC honor. He finished in a tie for fourth in the conference with Shaw averaging 74.86 strokes per round. Reddy's consistent scoring (75, 73, 73) in the championships last week and eighth place finish overall significantly contributed to the Stags' 11th title.

Shuman is awarded his second consecutive All-SCIAC honor in his young career. In the final day of the championships last week, Shuman had eight birdies and 10 pars to shoot an 8-under, 64. Hindered by scores in SCIAC #1, he finished 16th in the conference for average scoring at 76.429.

Finally, Zepf earns his first all-conference award finishing third in the SCIAC with a 74.60 average. He paced the Stags in SCIAC #2 shooting the second lowest round of the tournament on the first day at 71.
