Back in action, Stags nab top-10 finish at Collegiate Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Back on the course for its first tournament since mid-February, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team earned a top-10 finish at the 30 team Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational March 14-16 on the par-72 Pine Lakes Course at Jekyll Island Golf Club. CMS shot a three round score of 891 at 27-over par and was just five strokes from finishing in the top five.

The Stags score of 891 is a 26 stroke improvement over the team's showing at the Collegiate Invitational last season.

Illinois Wesleyan won the event with a score of 870, 10 shots ahead of second place Methodist.

Sophomore Kethan Reddy (216) paced CMS and finished in a tie for 6th place overall at even par. His first two rounds were 1-under, 71's followed by a 2-over 74 in the final round. Reddy finished five strokes behind individual winner Tony Albano from Illinois Wesleyan. Eight shots behind Reddy, junior Ben Ho (224) tied for 36th and shot rounds of 73, 76 and 75. Reddy for his performance during the weekend, was named to the All-Tournament team.

Senior Jordan Stein (226), sophomore Justin Beck (228) and senior Patrick Fujieki (235) rounded out the field for the Stags. Stein had a second round score of 72 while Beck had a 72 in the third round. The even par 72 scores of Stein and Beck were the second lowest rounds of the weekend for a CMS golfer.

The Stags are back on the course on March 21 against Harvard at Red Hill.
