Stags Win Embry-Riddle Invitational

The CMS Men's Golf team teed off its 2011-2012 season with a dominating 28-stroke victory at the Embry Riddle Co-Ed Invitational held at the Talking Rock Golf Club in Prescott, Arizona.  The Stags dominated the field, as Tain Lee (SR, San Juan Capistrano), Jordan Stein (SO, Glencoe, IL), and Brad Shigezawa (SO, Honolulu, HI) took the top three positions.

Lee took medalist honors with a three round total of 211 (-5), followed by Stein and Shigezawa with scores of 213 (-3) and 214 (-2) respectively. Bou-An Fujieki (SO, Honolulu, Hi) and Aron Larson (SO, Wayzata, MN) rounded out the scoring finishing in 7th and 8th places respectively, completing a Stag sweep with all five players in the top eight. Fujieki finished with a total of 227 (+11), while Larson shot 229 (+13).

The Stags overwhelmed its two other competitors, Embry Riddle (Daytona Beach) and Embry Riddle (Prescott), beating Embry Riddle (Daytona Beach) by 28, meanwhile outplaying Embry Riddle (Prescott) by 118 strokes. The Stags finished with a total of 864.
With the victory the Stags are ranked third in the NCAA Division III rankings. The team looks to build on its hot start next week as it hosts the CMS Co-Ed Invitational at Empire Lakes.
