Josh Angle Earns SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Accolades
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Josh Angle of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award for games through Monday, Jan. 15, the conference office announced today.
Angle led CMS in both scoring and assists in both games, as the Stags picked up two conference wins to stretch their winning streak to nine games and move into a tie for the lead in the SCIAC. He had 16 points and seven assists in a road win at Occidental on Wednesday, which included the winning foul shots with 1.2 seconds left to break a 67-67 tie and give CMS the 69-67 win.
Against Whittier on Monday, Angle led a CMS offensive explosion in a 107-75 win over Whittier, finishing with 25 points and six assists. He knocked down six three-pointers on the day, which was one off of his career high set last year in a win over No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor.
It marks the third time this season that the Stags have earned the Offensive Player of the Week. Rhett Carter picked it up after a big performance in a win over Cal Lutheran in December (22 points, 16 rebounds), while Caelan Jones earned it last week after keying wins over Redlands (in overtime) and against Caltech.
CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it plays at La Verne, and will then return home on Saturday for a big match-up with SCIAC co-leader Pomona-Pitzer at 2 p.m.
