Josh Angle Selected to D3hoops National Team of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - For the second time this season, senior guard Josh Angle of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team earned a spot on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for games through February 6, the website announced this morning.

Angle helped CMS to a pair of SCIAC wins last week with exceptionally efficient shooting performances, as the Stags improved to 18-3 overall and 10-2 in conference. He averaged 29 points in the two games on 72 percent shooting, as the Stags defeated La Verne and Whittier. In the La Verne game on Wednesday, he scored 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting, including 7-of-8 in the second half to help hold the Leopards at bay in a 15-point victory.

In a road win at Whittier, Angle managed to drop 30 points on only 11 field goal attempts, shooting 9-11 from the floor (4-6 on threes) and adding an 8-9 effort from the foul line. His efforts helped the Stags keep pace a half-game behind Pomona-Pitzer in the race for the SCIAC regular season title, with a rematch with the Sagehens still looming in the finale on Feb. 21.

Angle now averages 21.7 points on the year on 54.1 percent shooting, including 46.7 percent from three. He leads the SCIAC in both scoring average and three-point percentage, and ranks 17th nationally in scoring and ninth in three-point percentage. He previously was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Jan. 3, after knocking down all six of his three point attempts in a win over Haverford.

CMS will be back in action tomorrow when it travels to Chapman for a 7 p.m. contest.
