TJ Askew Earns Second Defensive Player of the Week Honor for CMS Men's Basketball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior forward TJ Askew earned the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award for the second time this season, the league office announced today.

Askew blocked eight shots in two games for the Stags last week, including three in a win over Caltech on Wednesday, when he also had eight defensive rebounds on his way to a double-double (20 points, 10 boards). He also had five more blocks in a loss to Occidental on Saturday, setting a new career high.

Askew has now been honored three times in all by the SCIAC this season, including one Offensive Player of the Week and two defensive honors. Josh Angle has also won three (two offensive, one defensive), while Rhett Carter (offensive) and Matt Meredith (defensive) have also picked up league honors, giving the Stags eight total this winter.

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels up the street to take on La Verne for a 7 p.m. contest.
