Justin Edwards Named SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week for CMS Football
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Junior running back Justin Edwards earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team for games through Saturday, Oct. 14, the league office announced today.
Edwards earned the honor after running for 227 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-17 win over La Verne on Saturday. The 227 yards marked his fourth career 200-yard game and left him only two shy of his career high, which he set at Cal Lutheran as a freshman.
The three touchdowns also gave him 37 rushing touchdowns in his career, one shy of the career record set by Chris Dabrow (1984-87). Edwards, who also has a receiving touchdown in his career, tied Dabrow's career record for all-purpose touchdowns, and needs just one rushing touchdown to tie and two to break the career record in that category as only a junior.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Redlands for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Zinda Field.
