CLAREMONT, Calif. - Six graduating seniors of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team were chosen to the Hampshire Honors Society by the National Football Foundation for their performance as scholar-athletes during their CMS careers.

The six award winners for the Stags include Jonah Cartwright, Garrett Cheadle, Luke Livingston, Alex Plunk, Connor Sinclair and Michael Streinz. The group includes three students from Claremont McKenna (Livingston, Plunk, Sinclair) and three from Harvey Mudd (Cartwright, Cheadle, Streinz).

Cartwright, an engineering major at Harvey Mudd, had his most productive season with the Stags at running back, carrying for 190 yards and two touchdowns on the season. He appeared in seven games, carrying the ball 27 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Occidental.

Cheadle, also an engineering major at Harvey Mudd, ended a standout career with the Stags this spring ranked third all-time in CMS history in rushing yards (2987) and rushing touchdowns (33). He was the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 when he ran for 1305 yards, ranked second in CMS history and had a career-high 11 touchdowns this fall.

Livingston, a philosophy, politics and economics (PPE) major at Claremont McKenna, is a two-year captain for CMS as a defensive lineman. He had 48 tackles in his career, including four quarterback sacks, two of which came in SCIAC wins this season against Occidental and Whittier.

Sinclair, an economics and film studies dual major at Claremont McKenna, was a regular in the CMS defensive line rotation throughout his career, battling injuries his last two seasons. He finished with 32 career tackles, including 16 as a sophomore, when he also tallied two quarterback sacks.

Streinz, an engineering major at Harvey Mudd, moved into the starting lineup on the offensive line this season for the Stags. He helped CMS lead the nation in time of possession with its ball control rushing attack, paving the way for the CMS rushing attack to average 199.7 yards on the ground. He helped CMS to 220 rushing yards and 40:44 in time of possession in the Sixth Street win over Pomona-Pitzer.

Graduating seniors with the minimum cumulative GPA who were significant starters or reserves are eligible for selection to the Hampshire Honors Society. The six Stags chosen were part of a program that captured the first SCIAC title since 1987 last season as juniors, and went out with a win in the annual Sixth Street Rivalry game over Pomona-Pitzer this past fall.
