Bunce picked as top DB in DIII Football
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Sophomore Victor Bunce (CMC) leads all of NCAA Division III football with nine interceptions, averaging 1.3 per game and is recognized by Hero Sports as the top defensive back in DIII. He has returned those picks for 107 yards, an 11.9 yard average, and also has 11 kick returns for 243 yards for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. In the SCIAC, Bunce leads all players in interceptions (next closest player has three) and pass break-ups with eight.
In an interview with Hero Sports, Bunce credited his coaches on their attention to technique saying, "It's easy to let the little things get sloppy over the course of a season, and my coaches stressed technique over the summer."
So far this season Bunce has already been recognized as the SCIAC Athlete of the Week and on D3football.com Team of the Week after making three interceptions for CMS against Puget Sound.
CMS sits alone in second place in SCIAC with a 4-1 record, 5-2 overall. The Stags play at Whittier Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.
