Kody Perry Earns SCIAC Pitcher of the Week Honor for CMS Baseball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Kody Perry of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team was named the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week for games through Sunday, Feb. 18, the conference office announced today.

Perry made his first career start for the Stags after transferring from Trinity (Conn.) College on Saturday in the final game of a three-game series with Chicago. Perry threw five innings in the contest, striking out 10 and walking none, while allowing just one hit as he got the win. 

Perry retired the first nine batters in order, including striking out the side in the second, before a leadoff triple in the fourth. He then get the next three outs via strikeout to preserve the shutout before exiting the game after five with the Stags ahead 2-0. CMS went on to win 6-1 to complete the three-game sweep, as the staff finished the weekend with 28 strikeouts, one walk and no earned runs. 

CMS will be back in action this weekend for a four-game series at Southwestern (Texas), beginning on Friday.
