For Third Time This Season, Julian Sanders Earns SCIAC Hitter of the Week Accolades
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Julian Sanders of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team captured the SCIAC Hitter of the Week award for games through Sunday, April 2, the conference office announced today.
Julian Sanders had three multi-hit games to help CMS take two out of three from Whittier over the weekend, batting 7-15 (.467). Including in his seven hits was one of the clutch hits of the last few years, a game-winning three-run double with two outs in the ninth inning with CMS trailing 5-4 in the series opener.
Earlier in the year, Sanders captured the award after helping CMS to a three-game sweep of Pomona-Pitzer, and also won it after a trip to Texas in which he was 9-14 with hits in eight straight at-bats. Jarrett Korson has also twice been named the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week for the Stags.
CMS will be back in action this weekend when it steps out of conference and travels for a three-game series at Puget Sound.
