After 13-K Performance, Jarrett Korson Earns SCIAC Pitcher of the Week Accolades

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Junior pitched Jarrett Korson captured the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week honor for games through Sunday, Feb. 27, the league office announced on Monday.

Korson had a dominant start to help CMS knock off a Bridgewater (Va.) team that came in with a 6-2 record on the year. He went seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out 13 to help the Stags to a 7-0 shutout win.

From the start of the game, Korson set the tone, recording two strikeouts in the first, and then striking out three in both the second and third to give him eight through the first three innings. He was able to keep Bridgewater off the board early in what started out as a pitcher's duel (1-0 through five) until the Stags broke it open late for the 7-0 win.

CMS, which is riding a five-game winning streak, will return to action on Friday and Saturday for its first SCIAC series of the season against Chapman, traveling to Orange on Friday and then hosting the Panthers on Saturday for a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Chapman won the national title in the last full season of competition in 2019, and will present a good measuring stick for a Stag team currently riding a hot streak.
