Zach Clarke Earns Academic All-District Honors for CMS Baseball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior shortstop Zach Clarke earned a spot on the 2020 College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 8 team for Division III baseball in a vote of the district's sports information directors.

By earning a spot on the all-district team, Clarke is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in early June.

Clarke, an economics major at Claremont McKenna, stepped into the starting lineup as a junior and became one of the top hitters in the SCIAC over the last two years. A year ago, he led the league with a .414 batting average, including five homers and 23 RBI, earning All-West Region honors from both the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com.

During the 2020 campaign, Clarke had a .351 batting average  over 14 games before the suspension of spring sports. He had a four-hit game against Redlands (4-for-5), while also homering against both the Bulldogs and Whitman. He also had a pair of two-double games, the first coming against Lewis & Clark and the second coming against nationally ranked Cal Lutheran. 

For his career, Clarke finished with a .365 batting average, .427 on-base percentage and .541 slugging percentage. He also had 25 career extra-base hits on 18 doubles and seven home runs.
