CMS Baseball Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned the American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2018-19 season, the organization announced this week.

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Juniors Zach Clarke and Justin Hull earned selections on the 2019 All-SCIAC Baseball First Team in a vote of the conference's head coaches, the league office announced today.

Zach Clarke finished 4-for-5 with two runs scored to stretch his season-ending hitting streak to 12 games.

CMS Baseball Rallies From Four Runs Down, Falls 8-6 in 11 Innings to La Verne on Senior Day

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Baseball team trailed 6-2 to La Verne going into the bottom of the seventh inning but a two-run single by Henri Levenson would pull the Stags to within one run and a solo home run by Marco Castillo in the bottom of the ninth forced extra innings. La Verne answered with two runs in the top of the 11th and the Stags fell 8-6 on Senior Day at Arce Field.

Diego Avila tossed 6.0 scoreless innings to earn his first victory of the season.
CMS Baseball Sweeps Caltech Doubleheader, Remains Fifth in SCIAC

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team swept a key doubleheader over Caltech by the final scores of 2-1 and 15-1 (7 innings) on Saturday at Bill Arce Field to remain in fifth place in the SCIAC and within two games of fourth place Occidental and Cal Lutheran.

PASADENA, Calif. - Junior starting pitcher Justin Hull tossed his third straight complete game, allowing just two earned runs, as the CMS baseball team took an 8-3 win over Caltech on Friday afternoon at North Field to close the gap towards earning a possible SCIAC playoff bid.

Patrick Gavin recorded six hits in nine at-bats with four RBI combined.

Diego Avila tossed 4.0 relief-innings in Game 2 of a doubleheader with two strikeouts during his longest appearance of the season.
CMS Baseball Drops Both Ends of Twin Bill to Chapman

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team looked for offense in key situations but could not come up with the big hit as they fell 7-2 and 5-3 in both ends of a doubleheader against Chapman on Saturday at Bill Arce Field.

Justin Hull tossed a 9.0-inning gem to earn his sixth victory of the season (career high) and his first complete game of the year.
