2011 Season Preview

Coming off a 21-win campaign in 2010, the Stags are looking to make a run at a SCIAC title this season. With the changes in bat regulations and the loss of some power at the top of the lineup, CMS will look to play a new brand of baseball. Between sophomore Will Knowles, junior Brian Gose, and freshman Scott Witte, the Stags have the speed to wreak havoc early and often. Returning left-fielder Jason Rehhaut, along with seniors Alex Varga and Matt Rothlisberger, will provide pop in the heart of the order. In the field, sophomore Dustin Green takes over at third base and overall the Stags appear much improved defensively.

On the hill, 1st Team All-SCIAC performer Alex Sunderland returns for his marquee senior year. Along with junior southpaw David Ulrich, the Stags will have two very strong front-end starters this year. Battery mate Anthony Bouvier returns as a seasoned game-caller and will look to have a big year both at the dish and behind it. Freshman Brett Watanabe will contribute both on the mound and in the lineup. Sophomore Chad Hadzinsky, senior Steven Ferguson, and junior Kyle Shipley will eat up innings for Coach Town. After the fall season confirmed that power numbers will be down across the conference, the Stags will rely on their fundamental game to translate into wins this year.
