Bio

Rachana Bhat, who has served in the athletic department at the University of Oklahoma and at the United States Tennis Association, is in her first year as the assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Bhat oversees compliance, Title IX, and human resources, while also serving as a sport administrator.

Bhat began with the USTA in May of 2019 in a seasonal role in White Plains, New York, after finishing her graduate work at Oklahoma. She then earned a full-time job in the fall of 2019 at the organization's Orlando headquarters, planning and executing national camps, regional camps and training weeks for aspiring professional tennis players.

Following her job with the USTA, Bhat served as the people experience coordinator at BTS USA, a management consulting company in Phoenix, Arizona, since March of 2021. Her role with BTS included managing the interview process, onboarding employees, and handling benefits and payroll administration.

In her two years at the University of Oklahoma, Bhat worked closely with the women's tennis program, and co-directed the Norman Open, while being active in several areas of the athletic department's operations. She served on the Athletics Diversity Council and the Student-Athlete Development Committee, had an internship with the alumni association, and worked in both the licensing office and the ticket office during her two-year tenure.

Bhat attended the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of the women's tennis team and helped the Lobos to their first-ever Mountain West title, while earning the program's Most Valuable Player honor as a senior. She also was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and served as the athletics representative on the Associated Students of New Mexico governing board.

As an undergraduate, Bhat served as a human resources generalist intern, creating and maintaining employee records and reviewing travel documentation to ensure NCAA and Cleary Act compliance.  She was a Dean's List student in the Anderson School of Management and earned Scholar-Athlete awards from the Mountain West and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and was a member of the UNM All-Academic Team.

Bhat holds a master's degree in adult and higher education from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico. She is a certified professional tennis coach, and speaks four languages.
