Bio

After over a decade of coaching experience, including a three-year stint as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team from 2015-17, Joial Griffith returns to Claremont in 2023-24 in a new role as the director of athletic facilities and sport operations. 

After leaving the Athenas coaching staff in 2017, Griffith went on to spend one season as an assistant coach at Williams College, before taking over as the head coach at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington for four years from 2018-22. In addition to her head coaching responsibilities, she led a successful fundraising campaign for travel and equipment needs, and teaching activity classes in the kinesiology department. 

Most recently, Griffith spent the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach with the Pepperdine women's basketball team in Malibu. Prior to her first stine with CMS, she was an assistant coach with the Concordia Irvine women's basketball team, her alma mater, while serving as an adjunct professor in the exercise sports science department. 

Griffith graduated from Concordia Irvine in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, with a concentration in sports management, and then went on to earn her master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from CUI in 2011
