Bio

Jesse Purcell joined the athletic training staff at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps as a full-time assistant in December of 2018, returning back to Claremont after graduating from Scripps College in 2010.

Most recently, Purcell has been an assistant athletic trainer at Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California for almost three years since her tenure there began in February of 2016. While at Saint Mary's she worked with the volleyball, women's rowing and men's and women's soccer programs, while also recruiting and training students for the Saint Mary's Athletic Training Student Program.

Prior to earning the position at Saint Mary's, Purcell spent two and a half years at UC San Diego, beginning with a postgraduate internship in 2014 covering men's water polo, rowing, fencing and softball, before serving as the athletic trainer for UCSD's 30 club teams. She was also a member of the athletics performance nutrition committee, leadingly weekly meetings, and researching and creating nutritional handouts for student-athletes. 

After graduating from Scripps in 2010 with a degree in psychology, Purcell went on to earn her master of science degree from the University of Hawai'i, specializing in kinesiology and rehabilitation science. After earning her degree master's in 2013, she served as the head athletic trainer at Branham High School in San Jose and as an athletic training fellow at Saint Mary's.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Purcell applied early decision to Scripps and was a member of the 5C Claremont Colleges Rowing Club Team. She worked in the CMS athletic training room as an undergrad under the guidance and mentorship of Steve Graves and Raechel Holmes.

Purcell currently lives in Rancho Cucamonga with her partner Andrew and their dog Gidget. They spend their free time traveling, at the beach and watching movies.
