CMS Women's Cross Country Records Best Possible Score (15 Points) at Redlands Invitational

Redlands, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's cross country team, which finished second in the nation last year, began the 2022 season by recording the lowest possible score with 15 points with the top five finishers at the Redlands Invitational on Saturday morning.

Natalie Bitetti was the individual champion in the 4500-meter race in 15:57.9, and she was followed by teammates Meredith Bloss (16:52.0), Laura Zimmer (17:01.0), Anika Kimme (17:02.7) and Elle Marsyla (17:04.0) in the 2-5 positions, as CMS completed its scoring before any of the other five schools had an athlete cross the line. 

CMS also had two other athletes in the top 10 of a field made up of 69 runners. Riley Capuano earned eighth place in her first collegiate race with a 17:36.7, followed by Mallorie Jenne in ninth with a 17:37.0. 

Amelia Opsahl came in 12th place in 17:49.9, with Jenna Milbrodt earning a top-20 in her debut with am 18:00.7. 

Emily Kendrick, Megan Maley and Hannah Weaver came in 21st-23rd place, with Lily Ryan in 27th, Carson McVay in 28th, Jamie Habib in 30th and Kaya Hano in 31st also coming in the top half of the field. 

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it travels to the UC Riverside Invitational.
