Natalie Marsh Named SCIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Natalie Marsh (SC '19) earned the first SCIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Award for the 2018 season, it was announced today by the league office.

Marsh earned the honor after being the top collegiate finisher at the Nationball Classic on Saturday, hosted by Westmont in Santa Barbara. Marsh finished the 4.2 mile race in 26:10, finishing 16 seconds ahead of the closest college runner, teammate Malea Martin (CMC '19). Marsh's efforts helped the Athenas pick up a perfect score against Westmont with 15 points from earning the 1-5 finishers. 

The only runner in the race to finish ahead of Marsh was actually a former member of the Athenas, Carmen Mejia, who ran as an alumna and came in with a 25:52 mark. Abigale Johnson (SC '21), Emily Clark (SC '22) and Dulcie Jones (SC '21) finished behind Marsh and Martin to give CMS the 1-5 spots in the race. 

CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it participates in the Biola Invitational before heading to UC Riverside on Saturday, Sept. 15.
