Caroline DelVecchio Earns SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week for Second Time

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Caroline DelVecchio of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Honor for events through Sunday, April 9, the league office announced today.

At the Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego, DelVecchio earned first place in the 400-meter hurdles by .02, crossing the line in 1:01.43 to edge out unattached runner Janice Hinrichs in 1:01.45. She also finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.65.

Earlier this season, DelVecchio captured the honor on March 6, following a strong performance at the first SCIAC Multi-Dual. Angie Gushue has also won the Track Athlete of the Week honor for the Athenas this season, while Elizabeth Kirschner and Emily Burger have each earned Field Athlete of the Week accolades. 

CMS will have a busy week this week, culminating in hosting the third SCIAC Multi-Dual at 10 a.m. on Saturday. During the week from Wednesday-Friday, several athletes will also compete at the Brian Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific, the Mt. Sac Relays, and the Long Beach State Invitational.
