CMS Women's Track and Field Goes 3-0 at SCIAC Multi-Dual

EAGLE ROCK, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned wins over Pomona-Pitzer, Occidental and Chapman as it improved to 6-0 in league duals on Saturday at Occidental.

The Athenas earned a 109-50 win over Pomona-Pitzer, a 126-30 win over Occidental, and held off Chapman for a tight 92-71 win. 

Carly Kirsch had a key performance in the throws, winning the shot put with a throw of 35-11.25, and adding a second-place in the hammer (128-8) and a third in the discus (109-1). In the hammer, she was behind only Antonia Hekster, who took first a throw of 151-2. Emily Burger took the javelin with a throw of 105-4. 

Caroline DelVecchio earned her usual hurdles sweep as well, finishing with a 14.93 in the 100 hurdles and a 1:04.12 in the 400 hurdles, with Shriya Velichala taking second. DelVecchio was also second in the long jump by just 3/4 of an inch at 16-2.25.

As a team, CMS had a big performance in the 800 with the top four finishers, as Megan Maley took first in 2:21.56, followed by Mia Voce, Angie Gushue and Riley Capuano. Capuano was also third in the 1500, with Laura Zimmer taking second. 

Elizabeth Kischner took first place in the high jump by clearing five feet, earning a top height of 5-1, while Simone Rogers tied for second at 4-11. Brooke Simon won the pole vault at 12-7.5, with Madeline Seifert second at 11-5.75. 

CMS will be host the next SCIAC Multi-Dual in two weeks, which will be held at the Burns Track Complex on April 15.
