CMS Women's Track and Field Wins Eight Events at Final Multi-Dual

LA VERNE, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team won eight events at the final SCIAC Multi-Dual of the regular season, which was held on Saturday afternoon at La Verne. 

The Athenas also won all four duals against the other teams competing, outscoring Caltech 100-21, Chapman 90-62, Occidental 92.50 to 56.50, and La Verne 104-28. 

Madison Packbier earned the win in the 100 meters for the Athenas, crossing the line in 13.20 seconds. Mikaela Lipsky was second in the 200 meters (28.00) and third in the 400 meters (1:00.04).

Laura Zimmer cruised to an easy win in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:17.56, over eight seconds ahead of the second-place finisher (Jordan Diaz of Chapman). Emily Clarke and Riley Harmon were 1-2 in the 1500 meters, with Clarke finishing in 4:48.81, followed by Harmon in 4:50.88. Delaney Hartmann, meanwhile, was the winner of the 5000 meters, crossing in 18:51.73.

Caroline DelVecchio, who set the CMS record in the 400-meter hurdles yesterday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15 seconds flat. Angie Gushue was the winner of the steeplechase in a time of 11:49.48. 

Robin Peterson was the winner in the pole vault with a top clearance of 10'6.75" (3.22 meters). Carly Kirsch took first in the discus with a throw of 109'3" while also adding second-place finishes in the shot put and hammer throw, and Emily Burger was second in the javelin. 

CMS will be back in action in two weeks for the SCIAC Championships, which will be held on April 30 and May 1 at Whittier.
