Six Athenas Earn ITA Scholar-Athlete Distinction
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Six members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the organization announced today.
Senior Sena Selby, juniors Ella Brissett, Alisha Chulani and Lily Walther, sophomore Lindsay Eisenman and first-year Anna Petrescu were all recognized by the ITA for having a GPA over a 3.5 over the past year. The Athenas also earned ITA All-Academic Team distinction for a combined GPA over a 3.2.
Selby graduated from Claremont McKenna in the spring with a degree in philosophy and was part of back-to-back national championship teams in 2022 and 2023. Chulani, who majors in engineering at Harvey Mudd, was part of those two title teams as well, and has earned All-America honors in singles and doubles in each of the last two years.
Chulani and Lindsay Eisenman, who majors in science management and data science at Claremont McKenna, both earned second-team Academic All-America honors in the spring. Brissett, who had the clinching point in the 2022 national championship, is a biochemistry major at Claremont McKenna with two national championship rings to her credit.
Walther is a junior who transferred in to Claremont McKenna this year and is majoring in psychology and neuroscience. Petrescu finished her first season with the Athenas this year and attends Claremont McKenna as well.
CMS finished the year with a 25-2 record and reached the NCAA Division III Semifinals for the sixth straight season it has competed at nationals, including three national titles.
