Alisha Chulani Captures SCIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Alisha Chulani of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week Award for events through Sunday, April 28, the conference office announced today.

Chulani won in both singles and doubles as the top-ranked Athenas defeated No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer 5-4 in a battle for the regular season SCIAC title. She earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles with Nikolina Batoshvili, and then dominated her singles match with a 6-3, 6-1 win that put CMS ahead 3-1 in the match.

Chulani earns the honor for the second time this season, after winning it following the Athenas' title at the ITA Indoor Championships. Audrey Yoon and Jade Haller have also captured the honor this season for the Athenas.

CMS will be back in action when it hosts Caltech on Thursday for a SCIAC Semifinal match at 4 p.m. A win would advance CMS through to Saturday's championship, and a possible rematch with Pomona-Pitzer, which faces Redlands in the other semifinal.
