Ella Brissett Earns SCIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Ella Brissett of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for events through Sunday, April 23, the league office announced today.

Brissett won in both singles and doubles to help CMS to a 5-4 win over Pomona-Pitzer and the regular season league title. Brissett came back to win the first set in a tiebreaker and control the second set for a 7-6, 6-1 win over Pomona-Pitzer All-American Nina Ye (an NCAA Quarterfinalist last year) after teaming with Lindsay Eisenman for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

Brissett becomes the third different Athena to win the award this season, after Alisha Chulani and Sena Selby captured it previously. 

CMS will be back in action on Friday when it hosts Chapman in a SCIAC Semifinal match at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
