CMS Women's Tennis Wins 14th Straight, Takes Down UC Santa Cruz 8-1

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Alisha Chulani, Lindsay Eisenman and Audrey Yoon each won in singles and doubles as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team won its 14th straight match with an 8-1 victory over UC Santa Cruz on Friday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

With the win, CMS now stands at 18-1, winning 14 straight since falling to No. 1 Chicago at the ITA Indoor Championships, with none of the 14 matches any closer than 7-2. UC Santa Cruz falls to 5-7 with the loss. 

Chulani won at No. 1 doubles with Nikolina Batoshvili 8-2, and then went on to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Eisenman teamed with Ella Brissett for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, and then took a perfect 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 5 singles. 

Yoon, meanwhile, had an 8-0 shutout win in doubles with Olivia Almy, and went on to a singles-doubles sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. 

Sena Selby and Arushi Malik were both nearly perfect in their singles matches as well, with Selby earning a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4, and Malik picking up a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6. UC Santa Cruz avoided the sweep with a win at No. 1 singles from Sara Beckman, who won a third-set tiebreaker 10-6. 

CMS will be back in action tomorrow for a SCIAC match at Chapman.
