Catherine Allen Named SCIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Catherine Allen earned the SCIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Award for events through Sunday, March 15, the league office announced today.

Allen earned the honor after helping the Athenas to a 9-0 win over No. 19-ranked Washington University on Wednesday. She swept both singles and doubles, picking up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and adding an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, the 100th doubles win of her career. 

Allen concluded her senior season with a 16-1 record in singles, with the only loss coming to teammate Justine Leong in the ITA West Regional Finals. She also had a 20-3 record in doubles, and ended 2020 with a career total of 190 wins in both singles and doubles. 

In addition to her individual success, Allen was part of a national championship team as a sophomore, a runner-up team as a junior, and captured the NCAA Division III doubles national championship a year ago with junior Caroline Cox. 

CMS concluded an abbreviated 2020 season with a perfect 14-0 record in dual matches and a No. 1 national ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
