Mackenzie Mayfield Captures SCIAC Swimmer of the Week Accolades

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Mackenzie Mayfield of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team earned the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week award for events through Sunday, Jan. 7, the conference office announced today.

Mayfield won all four of the events she competed in, two individual and two relay, to help the Athenas pick up a league win over Occidental. She won both of her individual events by healthy margins, taking the 50 free by almost a full second (24.96 to 25.92) and then winning the 100 fly by 1.75 seconds (56.19 to 57.94).

Mayfield also had key contributions to wins in the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay. She had the fastest split in the breaststroke leg of the medley relay (30.36) and swam her leg of the 200 free relay in 24.40, almost three seconds faster than her counterpart from the runner-up team from Occidental.

CMS has now had three award winners this season, after Meilan Uyeno and Alexis Romero previously earned the SCIAC Diver of the Week honor.

CMS will be back in action this Saturday when it travels to Cal Lutheran for a tri-meet with La Verne.
