CMS Swim and Dive Earns Both SCIAC Diver of the Week Honors After Opening Day

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Meilan Uyeno (Athenas) and Ethan Sattley (Stags) earned SCIAC Diver of the Week Accolades for the CMS swimming and diving team for events through Sunday, Oct. 22, the conference office announced today.

Uyeno earned it after her collegiate debut, taking first place in the one-meter and second place in the three-meter (to teammate Alexis Romero) in a tri-meet with Division I programs UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield. She had 215.60 points in the one-meter to finish almost 30 points ahead of second place, and added 217.40 points in the three-meter, just 11.5 behind Romero's first-place total as the Athenas went 1-2.

Sattley, meanwhile, came in second place in the one-meter dive in a tri-meet with Division I teams UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield. Sattley finished with a score of 253.60 to place just 16.5 points behind Dyson Modica of CSU Bakersfield, and 30 points clear of third place. His efforts helped CMS finish just 16 points behind CSU Bakersfield (158-142), while the runner-up placing matched his highest-ever finish in his young career, which he accomplished three times last season.

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it opens SCIAC competition with a tri-meet against Chapman and Whittier.
