Mayfield (Swim), Ng Pack (Dive) Sweep SCIAC Weekly Awards

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Mackenzie Mayfield and Emma Ng Pack won the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week and SCIAC Diver of the Week honors, respectively, the league office announced today.

Mayfield was part of four wins, two individual and two relay, as the CMS swimming and diving team swept every event in a trimeet with Chapman and Caltech. She swam the breaststroke leg of the winning medley relay, then won the 100 breast by 2.5 seconds in 1:05.63, the 100 free in 53.7.

She capped off the meet with a 24.62 split in the 200 free relay, opening up a one-second lead after beginning her leg in a virtual tie, to help CMS to the winning time of 1:38.64 (a margin of 1.4).

Ng Pack finished first in the one-meter dive, breaking 300 points with a 302.55 to win by almost 30 points. She also finished a close second to teammate Makenna Parkinson in the three-meter dive with a 294.90, less than five points behind Parkinson's 299.85.

Ng Pack actually becomes the third different Athena diver to win the award this season, after Parkinson took it last week following a meet against Occidental and Izzy Doud won it on opening week after a meet with UC San Diego. Combining both genders, CMS has had five divers of the week, including Stags Jack Griffith and Cyrus Gaylord, who won it this week.

CMS will be back in action on Dec. 2-3 for its annual two-day meet with Pomona-Pitzer.
