Izzy Doud Takes First Diver of the Week Award of New Season
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Izzy Doud of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving team was named the SCIAC Women's Diver of the Week for season-opening events through Sunday, Oct. 30, the league office announced today.
Doud took first place in the three-meter dive and second in the one-meter (behind teammate Makenna Parkinson) in the season-opening meet at UC San Diego. Her first-place finish in the three-meter was by a razor-thin margin, as she won by just .47 points (235.95 to 235.58), and her second-place finish behind Parkinson in the one-meter was equally close (201.98 to 201.45, a margin of .53).
Doud was an honorable mention All-America a year ago in both the one-meter and three-meter dives for the Athenas. The CMS swimming and diving programs swept both diving awards this week, with jack Griffith taking it on the men's side.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it opens SCIAC competition with a road meet at Occidental.
