Taylor Anderson enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball program in 2021-22.

Anderson joins the Athenas after a three-year career as the head coach at nearby Bonita High School, where she led her squads to three Palomares League championships. Her overall record during that span was 53-19.

“We are elated to add Taylor to our women’s basketball staff," said Head Coach Chanel Murchison. "With a resume that speaks for itself, Taylor’s experience as a head coach will give us advantageous insights on the bench, the court and beyond. Her willingness and desire to learn has already pushed our staff to the next level of preparation for this Athenas group. As a local product, she has a footing and the reputation to not only build on our recruiting reach, but our program’s overall community engagement. We are looking forward to an exciting season after a long hiatus, and so glad to have Taylor on board for the ride.”

She was also a star player at Bonita in her playing days, earning the San Gabriel Valley Player of the Year honor as a senior, while leading the Bearcats to the CIF Southern Section Division 3A title game in 2011. She then went on to play at Division I Loyola Marymount, where she was a double-digit scorer as a senior (11.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg) in 2014-15.  She had a career-high 25 points against Hawaii, and also had 20-point efforts against Hawaii (21) and Pacific (20). She went on to play one year of professional basketball in Portugal, before entering the coaching ranks at her alma mater.

"I am grateful to be a part of a competitive and well-established Athena basketball program that is committed to athletic and academic excellence," said Anderson. "Working alongside a talented staff has been incredible thus far and I’m excited to see the team compete this season."

Anderson graduated from Loyola Marymount with a degree in communication studies and a minor in sociology, and then earned her master's degree in sports administration from the University of Miami in 2021.
