Severt and Athenas garner preseason recognition
CLAREMONT, Calif. – After a 23-6 record and the first NCAA tournament win since 1996 in the 2015-16 season, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team made it on D3hoops.com Preseason Top-25 poll.
The Athenas only graduated one senior in 2016 and brought in a tall freshman class that is full of potential. The senior class this season includes All-SCIAC honorees Jai Dungca (CMC) and Kris Brackmann (CMC) while the SCIAC's Athlete of the Year, Kailee Severt (CMC) returns as a junior. Earlier this month, Severt was tabbed as a preseason All-American by Women's Basketball DIII News. Head coach Kristen Dowling enters her fifth year at the helm of the Athena Basketball program.
CMS begins its season with an exhibition game against Master's College on Nov. 11 and then hosts La Sierra at 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 in its new home, Roberts Pavilion.
