Krumwiede Leads Athenas On Senior Night Win Over Caltech

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team won their season finale 94-48 against the Caltech Beavers on February 18, 2013, at Ducey Gym. With the conference win, CMS finished its season at 9-16 overall and 5-11 in the conference.

It was Senior Night for Athena Aria Krumwiede, who finished the game with 10 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Junior guard Madeline Barnes led the Athenas with a season-high 28 points. Junior forward Cameron Ruby contributed 15 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench. Caltech freshman standout Stephanie Wong had 9 points while passing Caltech's single-season scoring record.

Aside from a 4-2 deficit at the 18:37 mark of the first half, CMS led throughout as they built as much as a 44-point lead late in the second half. A 22-0 run by CMS over five minutes in the first half proved to be the deciding point in the game.

With the conclusion of the season, Athenas Kyra Ray and Chloe Dobbert will continue their athletic endeavors on the lacrosse field and tennis court, respectively.
