CMC '81

Mary Tracey was the first CMS woman All-American in any sport.  She achieved that honor at the 1980 AIAW National Cross Country Championships.  She was also the first truly outstanding female athlete in CMS history.  She lettered in both cross country and track & field four times.

As a cross country athlete, she was the first woman from any school to repeat as SCIAC Champion as she finished first at the SCIAC Cross Country Championships in both 1979 and 1980.  She led CMS to their first two SCIAC titles in any sport as they won cross country titles in both 1978 and 1980.  She was also the captain of the cross country teams in 1978, 1979 and 1980.

In track & field, she was a six-time SCIAC Champion winning the 800, 1500 and 3000 meters in two consecutive years (1980 and 1981).  She was the track & field captain as a senior in 1981.  She was the first CMS woman to compete at the AIAW Nationals in track when she advanced to the semifinals in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:14.66 in 1981. Upon graduation, Tracey held school records in the 400 (61.50), 800 (2:14.66), 1500 (4:32.0) and 3000 (10:30.4).
