Jade Johnson Captures SCIAC Pitcher of the Week Honor for CMS Softball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Jade Johnson of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team earned the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week Award for games through Sunday, March 17, the conference office announced today.

Johnson appeared in three games for the Athenas, who went 4-1 at the Tucson Invitational. She totaled 9.1 innings of work without allowing a run, surrendering just seven hits, striking out eight and walking none. 

In the first game of the Tucson Invitational against Wisconsin-La Crosse, Johnson earned the save by throwing the final 2.1 innings in a 3-1 win. She then earned the win against Central (Iowa), starting the game and going five innings, strikeout out three and walking none in a 4-0 win. 

Johnson has not allowed a run in her last five outings total, totaling 12 innings of work.

CMS will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series with La Verne, starting with a road game on Friday at 3 p.m.
